Our everyday have become increasingly busy over the years with all sorts of distractions and stress that tends to take up a great deal of our time, and can leave us in a frequently negative frame of mine, and no one wants that! It’s so important to be as mindful as possible, especially when it comes to our emotional, mental, and physical health. Our physical, mental and emotional health is all connected, and tuning into our emotions and thoughts will not only help us become more aware of our internal struggles with stress, but it will help us become more away of physical symptoms of stress and the affect it may have on our mental health.

If you’re looking for ways to be more mindful of your own emotional, mental and physical health, the best, and possibly most unexpected place to look is your phone! We all know it’s important to disconnect from our phones and spend more time in the real world, but if you’re going to spending at least a short amount of time on your phone each day, wouldn’t it be great to do something productive with that time? It may seem counterintuitive, but there are plenty of mobile apps you can download that with just a few minutes a day  can help you become more in-tune with yourself and become more mindful.

Calm

Perhaps one of the more popular mobile apps for beginners in the world of mindfulness is Calm, which includes a seven-day beginner’s program to help get you started, as well as programs for users who are more advanced with the app. This app features short guided meditations that are designed to cover all of the basics of mindfulness, as well as featuring a library of nature sounds and scenes, all of which can be used at your own convenience, maybe during your lunch break, or while you’re getting ready to unwind for the evening. Additionally, if you’re seeking to improve your own sleeping patterns, you can use the “Sleep Stories” feature, which are bedtime stories geared towards adults that are “guaranteed to lull you to sleep.” Pretty cool, huh?

Insight Timer

Insight Timer is another useful app, which is described as “ a social network for meditators” that enables you to share and discuss your overall mindfulness experience with others all around the world. What better way to be mindful than to share your story and read other people’s stories? There are different community groups to join, as well as a library of guided meditations that are led by the world’s top mindfulness experts and meditation teachers. Even better is the fact that the app has previously won TIME Magazine’s App of the Year.

Aura

Another great app for mindfulness is Aura, which provides users with a more personalized meditation and mindfulness experience. The app asks the user questions in order to provide this personalized experience, which makes it “a new kind of mindfulness app.” From there, you will then receive a daily mindfulness meditation based on the answers that you provide. Each meditation lasts for a total of three minutes in length, making it perfect for people who don’t have a lot of time, or have a hard time focusing on mediating for longer periods of time. This app is specifically designed to help with controlling stress and increasing positivity.
