I want to celebrate a major victory with you. If you’ve been following my journey, you know what a long climb out of breast cancer that caused havoc on my body has been.
First, four and a half years ago was the diagnosis. I thought I would breeze right through the surgery and radiation as I’d already been through so much with the spinal condition, neuropathic pain syndrome, and Celiac diagnoses.
Little did I know that I would have multiple surgeries, tears, burns, and the devastation that ensued.
Cancer was bad enough, but because of my weak lower spine, as I pushed myself up the disks in my neck collapsed and I was forced to live in a recliner lift chair for three years.
Then once better thanks to stem cells in my neck, we discovered I had developed severe scar tissue adhesions intertwined with my nerves. I had two frozen shoulders, and horrific nerve pain that rendered my arms useless.
Many doctors were clueless and offered no hope. But I wanted my life, business, and independence back! So I searched and found alternative solutions.
Now, after four and a half years of consistently working on breaking down the scar tissue, I can dress myself, do my hair, and many things we take for granted.
My favorite thing is to be able to swim. And I achieved that goal this month! After over four years, what a victory!
I don’t even know how I kept going. There were many setbacks as I moved forward. And I had times of doubt, terrible pain, and PTS. But I didn’t quit.
Mindset is a huge part of getting me here. As well as my faith, friends, great coaches, and my husband, Kevin, who stuck with me through it all.
