With the holiday season now among us, it’s a time where we celebrate love and good cheer, as well as exhibiting those same feelings towards our family members and friends. However, the holiday season can bring along a certain amount of stress, whether it be financial issues, health-related reasons, or just plain ol’ anxiety having a home full of people. Here are some things to keep an eye on this holiday season, and some suggestions for keeping your holiday celebrations as low-stress as possible.

Too Much Togetherness

Even though the holiday season is a time where family generally will get together and spend time with one another, there’s always such a thing as too much togetherness. As a result, family members can find it hard to maintain a healthy balance between bonding with one another and having some much-needed alone time. This is something that can hit even families who consider themselves to be close-knit!

A Full Plate

Perhaps one of the biggest issues involving the holiday season involves taking on far too many activities and trying to do too much at once, regardless of how fun these activities may be. This can lead to stress that can have a negative impact on not just your physical health, but also your mental health as well, which can leave you feeling more frustrated rather than fulfilled. Rather than attempting to do too much at once, try instead to do things in moderation.

Take a Breather

No matter what it is that you may be doing at the time throughout the holiday season, always stop and take the time to breathe. For instance, take ten minutes to yourself and perform a simple breathing meditation. If you can’t do that, then a few deep and cleansing breaths will be perfect for helping to reduce your overall level of negativity and stress within the span of a few minutes.
