Trust in the Lord

dove-in-skyOften I am asked how I have been able to persevere through such a challenging life. My answer is this; only by having a close, intimate relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (John 3:16). It is by His strength that I have been able to raise four sons from my bed side, overcome bouts of severe depression, persevere through intense physical pain, and learn to find purpose, passion, and joy in my life despite incredibly challenging circumstances..

Some may question, how could God allow someone so young to have such a severe disability? I pondered these thoughts myself for several years. But the truth is, we live in earthly vessels of flesh and bone that eventually grow old and withered (2 Corinthian 5:1, James 4:14).  I had a car accident at a young age which weekend my spine, and then I went on to have four eight pound babies consecutively. Add to that many other injuries  including another car accident,  a sleigh riding injury , and injuries acquired from lifting heavy items, and one can see how my body eventually got to a point of no repair.

Trust in The Lord Poem by LauraBeth RyanGod gives each one of us free will, and because we live in a world where sin abounds, and where we are subject to the physical laws of nature, it is inevitable that we will face trials of many kinds ( John 16:33 ,1 Peter 4: 12-13). We experience natural disasters, sickness, and tragedies of great magnitude. But how wonderful to know that the God of all comfort is right there, ready to receive us into His arms, offering compassion, grace and mercy

(2 Corinthians 1:3-5, Isaiah 30-18)!

I believe that God still heals and performs miracles every day, but more often than not, supernatural miracles are not the norm. Usually, we must walk through our difficulties, gaining strength by the testing and proving of our faith (James 1: 2-4).

For many years I sought the Lord for the “act of healing” by both physical and spiritual means, and I believe that possibility still exists. But I have learned that it is far more beneficial to seek the “Healer”, and to find peace and contentment in whatever your circumstance. I encourage you to seek God, and to trust in Him and His perfect will for your life.

“Trust in the Lord, with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding, seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverb 3: 5-6 NLT
